Move over Doritos.
Pizza Hut's hoping for Super Bowl success through a huge helping of user-influenced content - hold the cheese.
In a new jingle contest, consumers can perform their own rendition of the song featured above for the chance to see their video featured in a pre-game Super Bowl ad. The deadline is January 15, and entries and voters can participate at the brand's "Top This" Facebook page.
There is a lot to like about this effort. As I mention in my book THE ON-DEMAND BRAND, Doritos' annual "Crash The Super Bowl" UGC contest has been less about consumer-created content than the chance to showcase what Barely Digital founder Ben Relles calls "Pro-Tail" videographers looking for a ticket to the big time.
Here, we may be some of the same. But it seems like the final ad - which will feature a montage of different contest entrants - could be more fun the more diverse, entertaining (and real) the contestants are.
You can bet $10 we'll find out come Super Bowl Sunday.
